Chapter 21
Willow’s rage burned so hot, her heart felt like it would explode. With nowhere left to vent it… no fists, no words…. she burst into tears.
A raw, desperate sob tore from her throat.
“You’ve already ruined me… what more do you want?!” she choked out. “What the hell do you want from me?! Why won’t you just leave me alone?!”
Damienfroze.
For a split second, a ghost of a memory flickered in his mind…
That night, six years ago.
The dim room.
The girl beneath him.
The soft sobs she tried to hide.
Tears clinging to her lashes as he kissed the corner of her eye.
He hadn’t seen her face clearly. The lights were off. His mind fogged by the drug he’d been forced to take.
Even her voice, he hadn’t remembered.
But the tears… those, he remembered.
And now, looking at the woman sobbing in front of him, that memory twisted in his chest like a vice.
His hand twitched… almost reaching out, almost wiping her tears.
But just as quickly, he clenched his fist and crushed the feeling.
No. It couldn’t be her.
That girl had been soft. Gentle. Quiet like a kitten too scared to scratch.
This woman? She was fire. Loud. Sharp–tongued. A wildcat ready to claw his face off.
He exhaled sharply, anger flickering again as the strange tenderness vanished. His patience snapped.
“Shut up!” he barked.

But Willow was unrelenting, her voice breaking with every word.
“Why should I?! Who do you think you are?! You ruined me and you don’t even care! Do you even have a heart?! Or
did you let the dogs eat it?! You’re not a man… you’re a monster!”
Tears streamed down her cheeks, full of all the pain she thought she’d buried.
Six years of hardship. Of shame. Of raising three kids alone.
Six years of being labeled, judged, and scorned.
And every memory of it was etched into this man’s face.”
He’d wrecked her once. Now he was back to finish the job.
And she?
She couldn’t run.
She couldn’t hide.
She couldn’t even leave the damn city.
She couldn’t get a divorce. Couldn’t register her kids for school.
And now, she owed fifty million because of him.
Willow sobbed harder, shoulders shaking uncontrollably.
Damienstared, stone–faced. He didn’t understand her grief.
In his mind, she was just a troublemaker who’d racked up a debt and now couldn’t face the consequences.
No apology. No shame. Just tears and accusations.
Pathetic.
If it weren’t for his questions, he would’ve thrown her out by now.
“Shut up,” he growled again. “Or you’ll never see your children again.”
Willow’s world went still.
“What… what did you just say?” she whispered, voice hoarse.
Damien didn’t blink.

“Try me.”
Her heart dropped into her stomach. Every bone in her body screamed at her to fight, to claw, to scream again…
But instead, she slapped her hand over her mouth.
And went dead silent.
Not another sob. Not a single word.
Her wide eyes locked onto Damien, burning with anger, fear, and defiance all at once.
But she didn’t cry.
Because she couldn’t afford to.
Not if it meant losing them…
Her boys. Her whole world.
Damien stared down at her, eyes narrowed, chin lifted…
like a king casting judgment on a peasant.
His presence was commanding, sharp, suffocating.
And under that gaze, Willow faltered.
She was the first to break eye contact, biting her lip as her anger gave way to something colder…
Fear.
What if… what if he really was that man from six years ago?
What if she’d just exposed everything without even confirming it?
What if… God forbid… he decided to fight her for custody?
Looking at the way he dressed, the car he drove, the sheer power in his presence… she’d never stand a chance.
Not legally. Not financially. Not in a courtroom, and definitely not in his world.
She had been reckless.
Too reckless.
Willow forced herself to breathe, slow and deep. She needed to calm down.

Damien finally spoke, now that she seemed less feral,
“Start talking. What happened yesterday?”
Willow blinked. “Wh–what do you mean, what happened?”
“Who helped you escape? Where did they take you? And why the hell are you targeting me? You after my money or my life?”
Her jaw dropped.
“What?! When did I ever target you?! You were the one who had me kidnapped yesterday!”
She huffed, eyes flaring again. “The fire alarm went off, people ran, I ran too… how is that targeting you?! I don’t want your money and I definitely don’t…”
She cut herself off.
Nearly said, “want your life.”
Which, if he was that man from six years ago, might actually be a lie.
Because if he was him?
Oh, she did want to kill him.
Damien ‘s gaze narrowed. “Don’t what?”
Willow crossed her arms, muttering under her breath like a sulking child,
“Don’t wanna kill you.”
Damien ‘s brow twitched. “You really think I’d believe that?”
“You can believe whatever you want! I’m telling the truth!”
Damien ‘s expression darkened. “Where did you sleep last night?”
That sharp shift in tone made Willow pause.
Yesterday, his people had combed every inch of the motel she was staying in.
But she’d vanished without a trace.
Which, for someone like him, meant one thing…
She had help.

People who could erase her trail.
And people like that… didn’t help random nobodies.
Willow, clueless about the digital chaos her son had caused with a few taps on a tablet, blinked at him in confusion.
“I don’t see how that’s any of your business.”
Damien ‘s eyes turned frosty.
Her pulse skipped. He was terrifying when he got mad.
Earlier, she’d been all fire and fury… charging at him like a little tiger cub.
Now that the storm had passed, the fear crept back in.
Willow shrank slightly. “That’s… personal. I’m not comfortable telling you.”
He leaned in. “Not comfortable, or hiding something?”
She crossed her arms, chin lifting. “Why would I hide anything? I don’t owe you…
”
The word money caught in her throat.
Oh. Right. The five. Million. Dollar. Car.
Right on cue, rage flared again.
She whipped out her phone, scrolled to a photo, and shoved it in front of him.
“I asked my son about your car, and yes… it was him. He did it.
But!” she stabbed a finger at the image, “Only because you people bullied him first!”
Damien raised an eyebrow, eyes dropping to the screen.
Willow fumed. “My son was just protecting his little brother! Your woman’s bodyguard shoved my kid to the ground! My baby came home bruised! What was my son supposed to do, just sit there and cry?!”
She looked up, fire blazing in her eyes again.
“If anyone owes anyone an apology, it’s you!”
Damien glanced at the photo, his brows furrowing.
In the image, a child’s pale and tender little leg was bruised with an angry purple welt. Just looking at it made one
wince.

Willow pointed at the screen. “That bruise was from your woman’s kick. I’m guessing she’s your wife? That’s child abuse! I could sue her for that!”
Damien :”
Willow added sharply, “There are surveillance cameras at the train station. If you don’t believe me, check them.”
Damien didn’t question it, He knew exactly what kind of person Nancy was.
Still, what she did had nothing to do with him.
“I didn’t hurt the kid. But your son did trash my car.”
Willow stared at him, completely speechless.
Fair was fair. Even if they were husband and wife, she couldn’t just dump someone else’s mess on him.
Damien wasn’t done. “Also, the bite on my hand? That’s on you.”
Willow glanced at the teeth marks on his wrist, immediately shrinking back a little. Her momentum deflated in an
instant.
Before she could figure out what to say next, Damien changed the subject.
“If you don’t want to end up in jail and let your kids grow up without their mother, start talking.”
“About what?”
“Why you approached me. Who sent you? Who are you working for?”
Willow looked wronged. “I already told you… I didn’t approach you on purpose! And no one sent me!”
Damien clearly didn’t believe a word. “You don’t start telling the truth, and things are going to get ugly.”
“I am telling the truth!”
His expression darkened further.
“Nico. Hand her over to the police. She doesn’t leave unless I say so.”
The car door flung open almost immediately. Nico stood outside, expression stiff.
“Miss Windsor, please.”
