When I got back home, I looked at the painting on the wall that was made using blood, which Leland had obtained from Trevon. I laughed.
Happiness turned to grief. I was so happy when I got this painting, but today I was just deeply sad.
I knew that it was not easy for Leland to dedicate over a decade to the company, but…
Tears dropped on the back of my hand, and sorrow spread throughout my body.

I was the daughter of the Perez family, and Leland was an orphan supported by my parents since childhood.
But he had watched me grow up since the age of ten and married me when I was twenty–two. Leland gave me the most genuine and best love in the world.
“Leland, Leland!” I rolled on the bed, and my stomach ached. An indescribable pain numbed my whole body.
I woke up in a daze, and it was already midnight. I was startled by the action of Leland covering me with a blanket. Leland knew something was wrong just by looking at me.
After all, he had brought me up!
How could my move escape his watchful eyes? Even in the past when I was naughty, I couldn’t get rid of his control.
And now I was about to leave. I must keep it secret from him.
I forced a smile and listened to Leland’s gentle care. “Is it a stomachache? Come on, get up, and have a glass of
milk.”
I nodded, feeling uncomfortable with my hair because my scalp was itchy. Leland immediately hugged me and wanted to give me a bath.
I shook my head. “No.” I couldn’t stand his gentle touch anymore.“It’s too late. Just help me wash my hair!”
Leland’s doting face always had a sweet smile on it.“Okay, lie down. I will help you wash your hair and then blow dry it before you go to sleep.”
I did not speak at all during it. I just let him take care of me.
It was just like my childhood when I was immersed in being treated like a princess by Leland.
When Leland fell asleep next to me, a text message came from an unknown number.
“I wore a nurse’s uniform tonight, and he tied a gold chain on it. We did it three times. I enjoy being his favorite
woman.”
It was Caitlyn again!
“Three times?”
I didn’t expect anything from Leland anymore, but still, my heart ached. It felt like my heart was broken.
I pressed hard on my chest, trying to calm down and gasping for breath as big tears rolled down. Why was I crying? Why was I so useless?!
But I remembered clearly that Leland had always cherished every moment with me. Even when we both wanted it.
