Chapter 6
He completely destroyed Ryan’s career.
After we moved to a new home, Ryan couldn’t find an opportunity for revenge.
Ryan said a woman contacted him by phone days earlier.
She revealed our home address and even helpfully booked round–trip tickets for him.
Ryan wouldn’t have been driven to murderous intent just for being replaced at work.
But after being forced to leave his job, Ryan had been struggling financially.
A month ago, his five–year–old son died in a car accident.
Unable to pay for surgery, the hospital refused treatment, and his child passed away.
When the woman contacted Ryan, his grief transformed into a desire for revenge.
The police keenly pulled out Ashley’s photo, “Was it her?” they asked.
Ryan furrowed his brow, “The eyes look similar, but she was wearing a mask and hat,” he
said.
Learning this, I suddenly understood everything,
No wonder Ashley conveniently had a depressive episode that day, dramatically threatening to burn down her rental apartment!
It was all carefully planned.
She wanted to distract David and have me killed!
“Ma’am, regarding Mr. Miller’s actions, do you choose to accept compensation and forgiveness?” the officer asked.
“No. Handle it according to the law,” I responded.

In the end, David was sentenced to thirteen days in jail.
Later, my detective sent me a document.
“Ma’am, I’ve uncovered Ashley’s full background,” the message read.
Scanning it, I realized David’s taste was terrible.
No, he wasn’t just tasteless. Ashley was manipulating him completely.
The document revealed three major scandals:

First, eight years ago, Ashley broke up with David, claiming she was going abroad and
didn’t want to hold him back.
In reality, she had latched onto a wealthy man and went abroad with him.
The wealthy man never planned to marry her. Two years ago, he married a woman of
similar social status.
When the man’s affair was exposed, Ashley suffered significantly.
She returned to the country a year ago because the man’s wife threatened her, forcing her to flee overnight.
Second, during college, Ashley bullied a girl from a single–parent family, driving her to depression and forcing her to drop out.
Third, after returning, she worked as a receptionist at a big company. Within a month, she
was involved with a senior executive.
Drinking too much, she revealed their relationship.
The executive’s wife forced her to resign.
In summary, David was likely just a last–resort option when Ashley returned with no other choices.
He was basically her lowest–tier backup plan.

After consuming these revelations, I quickly contacted a marketing account, organizing the information chronologically to expose Ashley’s “glorious achievements“.
I then generously provided Ashley’s personal social media and phone number.
After completing this, I comfortably rested in my hospital bed.
Unexpectedly, Ashley showed up.
The nurse looked at me helplessly, “I know you need rest and shouldn’t be disturbed, but
that woman is crazy,” she said.
“She’s threatening to commit suicide with a knife at the hospital entrance, forcing our reception to reveal your room number. Should I call the police?” she asked. 2
I looked down, my right–hand clenching into a fist.
My body had recovered nicely.
I was ready to strike.
“No, tell her to come in,” I said.
Five minutes later, Ashley appeared at my hospital room door.
