CHAPTER 80.
ÉVA’S POV
I love living a lavish life. I’ve been pampered and protected under the wings of my brother for as long as I can remember. But now, Aria has come along and messed everything up.
This time, it’s not just about me–it’s about my mother too She’s been dragged into this chaos, and we both stand to lose everything we’ve enjoyed for so long. How could Aria do this to us?
Right now, I was dying to go on a shopping spree. Therefore, I took Sophia with me to the mall.
There is a grand event where all the influential men will be present, and I don’t want to miss my chance to make an impression. The latest fashion collection just hit the market today, and I need it to stand out.
I’ve been begging my brother to unblock my credit cards so can make the purchase, but he’s been ignoring my pleas. It’s infuriating. How am I supposed to compete if I can’t even look the part?
If I recall correctly, there’s still one card that should be functioning. I cross my fingers, hoping it hasn’t been blocked too, and head to the boutique.
As I walk into the boutique, I’m immediately drawn to the display of elegant evening gowns. Sophia is equally amazed as me.
“Wow! I’m already excited.”
“I bet you’ll have a good catch.”
The first dress I pick up is a deep emerald green satin gown its sleek fabric gliding through my fingers. The neckline is adorned with intricate bead work that sparkles under the boutique’s soft lighting. I imagine how it would hug my figure, making a statement of sophistication and grace.
Next, I spot a stunning crimson dress, its bold color demanding attention. It’s made of fine silk, with a plunging neckline and a daring open back, the kind of dress that would ensure all eyes are on me the moment I walk into the event. The dress flows like liquid fire, and I can already feel the confidence it would give me.
I move on to a classic black gown, timeless and elegant. This one is simpler in design but no less captivating. It features a high slit and off–the–shoulder sleeves, giving it a blend of modern allure and classic charm. The fabric is heavy and luxurious, falling perfectly to the floor in a way that exudes effortless elegance.
Finally, a shimmering silver dress catches my eye. It’s covered in sequins from top to bottom, reflecting light with every movement. This dress is pure glamour, meant to dazzle and shine. The thought of wearing it and outshining everyone at the event brings a smile to my face.
I take all four dresses to the fitting room, eager to try them on and see which one makes me feel the most
invincible. As I slip into each one, I envision myself at the event, surrounded by the elite, every head turning in my direction.
“They all fit and are perfect for the event.”
Sophia’s comments make me realize that it’s best to grab all of them.
As I head to the cashier, I hand over the card that I am under the impression, is functioning. Alas! It’s declined because of the limits on the card. I sacrifice two dresses, and still, it gets declined.
“What’s going on, Eva?”
“Sophia, my brother has blocked my other cards and this one is limited.”

The embarrassment on my face is evident.
“Don’t worry, I’m here.”
I am so grateful that Sophia is stepping in for me every time, but this can’t go on. If I wanted, I could have left all the dresses, but the event is a one–time party and I’ve worn all my other dresses on several occasions, so I can’t let go this time.
In fact, I’ve never learned to adjust or give up. I always get what I want. After the payment, Sophia and I continue our window shopping and she asks me why are my cards not functioning.
“Adam is the man of the house and he decides to control my expenses.”
I narrate everything in details; from the antique to the apologies, but I don’t tell her about Adam’s determination to get Aria back as his wife.
“Is it?! But where did Aria get so much of money?”
Sophia is shocked about Aria’s ability to purchase an antique for one billion dollars. So, when I break the news of her relationship with Neal Jackson, Sophia nearly faints.
“Please, can you make Adam change his mind about unblocking my cards?”
know that Sophia can have a great influence on Adam, for she always had. Seeking help from her is the best thing to do. But, she declines.
“No, I can’t meddle in this matter, Eva. But what I advise is to keep Aria away from Adam.”
Sophia tells me to ensure that Aria does not make her way into our family again because if now being divorced she has influenced Adam, then if ever she tries to come back, things will be worse for my mother and me.
Well, she is kind of right, because the way Adam defended her is like Aria, despite not being in our life, still had an impact on Adam.
Then, something wicked creeps into my mind. I smirk.
