Chapter 37
Not long after Kayson left, Talia dazedly opened her eyes.
The air was filled with the smell of disinfectant, and everything was white. She wondered, “Am I in the hospital?”
After Talia left the Taylor’s house, the rain poured heavily. In the haze, she saw a missed call on her phone, so she called back.
Right after she conveyed the address to the other end of the line, her head slumped and she lost consciousness.
She wondered if it was that boy who had brought her to the hospital.
Ten years ago, Talia had accidentally saved a boy.
In return, the boy gave her a jade pendant and a phone number.
He said he was grateful to her and that she could call this number if she needed help in the future.
Talia wrote down the number hesitantly. She never
anticipated that she would have to use it tonight, all due to a strange twist of fate.
She had thought that after over ten years, that boy would have long forgotten about this.
She just called on a whim, not really hopeful. But the call actually got through.

Talia could barely recall what he looked like. She only
remembered the boy back then, clad in a police uniform with the number “258” on his shoulder.
That must have been his code name.
Just as she was lost in her memories, suddenly, there was a sound at the door of the ward from the outside.
A man in a suit pushed the door open and walked in. Talia was startled and instinctively turned her head to look.
The man was handsome and tall, so Talia couldn’t resist stealing a couple more glances at him.
Gavin hadn’t expected Talia to wake up so soon and quickly said, “Ms. Taylor, do you feel unwell? Just a moment, I’ll call the doctor to have a look.”
After much commotion, a group of people entered and exited the ward.
Talia watched the medical staff coming in and out and could hardly believe it.
She felt there were actually people who cared about her.
After the nurse left, Talia looked at Gavin and asked, “258? Thank you so much for tonight.”
That memory was too long ago. Talia had only been fourteen years old then.
Now, ten years had passed… That bit’s appearance had long faded from her mind.
Gavin was taken aback, and a flicker of surprise flashed in his

eyes.
He didn’t know what those numbers Talia referred to meant but guessed they should be related to Kayson.
Gavin didn’t dare to speak casually.
He just said, “Ms. Taylor, are you looking for the one who saved you? He left earlier. My name is Gavin Rogers. You can tell me if you need my help.”
Talia thought to herself, “So, this isn’t him.”
She nodded. Gavin noticed she seemed a bit tired, so he closed the door and quietly stepped out.
Once in the corridor, Gavin immediately messaged Kayson, “Mr. Deven, Ms. Taylor is awake. The doctor said she’s in good condition.”
Kayson replied instantly, “Okay.”
After sending that, Gavin thought of something and sent another message, “Ms. Taylor might want to see you.”
Kayson, who had just reached the club when he received the message, was met with heavy rain outside. He was walking against the wind, yet not even the hem of his clothes got wet.
He glanced down at his phone, and the screen’s light softly illuminated his prominent nose bridge.
Kayson raised an eyebrow upon seeing the words “might want to see you“.
Dim lights slanted down around him, exaggerating the height of his figure.
A faint smile played in his deep eyes.
Kayson took out a cigarette, placed it at the corner of his lips, and typed, “I’ll be back as soon as I can.”
The moment the message was sent, Kayson’s smile vanished.
In the private room of the club, upon Kayson’s sudden arrival, those who had previously been clustering around Kendrick rushed over to Kayson one by one.
If Kendrick could be regarded as the “Prince” of Maplehelm, then Kayson was undoubtedly the “Emperor” of Maplehelm.
Everyone present was well aware that Kayson held the real power and was the head of the Galaxia Group.
Kendrick rubbed his nose awkwardly. He had been full of swagger just a moment ago, but now he took the initiative to approach and greeted, “Kayson.”
