CHAPTER 87
ADAM’S POV
+25 BONUS
Aria is so mad at me, and she has every right to be. I’ve endangered Grandpa’s life, but Sophia being in the hospital isn’t entirely my fault. However, getting her pregnant in the first place is totally on me.
I have warned Sophia repeatedly not to come to the hospital, but she ignored me. She has been insistent for a long time now, and today she finally shows up despite my objections.
Grandpa is with me when Sophia arrives. I am baffled to see her come in unannounced, without informing me beforehand. And mind you, she does not even turn her back and leave when Grandpa hasn’t yet noticed her.
Instead, she marches right in, greeting us and addressing me very intimately. Even though she knows Grandpa doesn’t like her, she insists on forcing herself into the family and having a conversation with us.
“What is she doing here, Adam?”
Grandpa’s question sends a chill of unease down my spine, stirring up a wave of confusion and apprehension within me. 1
Before I can even muster an excuse, Sophia steps in, her interruption making the room more tense. To make matters more unsettling, she boldly strokes her swollen pregnant belly as she speaks, leaving me feeling a mix of disbelief and discomfort.
“Haven’t you told Grandpa yet?”
I swear, the urge to either tape her mouth shut or render her unconscious surges within me.
“To tell what?”
Grandpa’s tone slices through the air, sharp with severity, leaving a lingering sense of urgency and expectation. Even though he might sense the underlying tension, his insistence on a direct answer stirs up a feeling of apprehension and guilt within me, making me more tumultuous inside.
First the accident, and now I find myself caught in a battle to maintain peace and balance. But does Sophia truly grasp the situation, or is she simply bent on stirring up more trouble for me? It’s hard to shake the feeling that she, like Eva and my mother, thrives on chaos and conflict.
“It’s nothing, Grandpa. Don’t worry about her.”
“Are you kidding me, Adam? Grandpa is expecting his first great–grandchild and you’re saying it’s nothing?”
Grandpa’s jaw drops at Sophia’s words, his expression a mix of shock and disbelief. Heat rushes to my cheeks, embarrassment flooding over me like a tidal wave. I can’t bring myself to meet Grandpa’s searching gaze, feeling the weight of his scrutiny bearing down on me.
“You mean, Aria?”
My silence prompts Grandpa to turn his questions to Sophia. I believe Grandpa misheard Sophia and thinks that Aria is pregnant. But, Sophia’s determined expression suggests she’s ready to spill the beans.
“Don’t you know that Adam and Aria are divorced?”
Sophia will undoubtedly be more provoked upon hearing Aria’s name. She’s determined not to abandon her
schemes.
“D–divorced?”

This woman shows no regard for anyone else’s well–being or emotions. She’s solely focused on advancing her own selfish agenda, unlike Aria.
“Yes, divorced… And I’m carrying Adam’s child.”
Oh, I’m so tempted to unleash a stream of profanity on this woman right now. Doesn’t she realize she’s only making things worse?
“What have you done, Adam! How could you do this to Arial”
Grandpa unleashes his fury, and I’m concerned about the toll it might take on his health. And really, just as I am thinking about it, Grandpa immediately collapses right before me. Fortunately he was near to my bed and seated, so he fell right onto my bed.
“Look what you’ve done!”
I immediately erupt in shouting at Sophia, fueled by the pent–up anger and frustration. My voice echoes so loudly that it draws the attention of nurses and doctors, who rush in to see what’s happening.
I doubt if Sophia has any regret for what she has done. She just stands there, holding her tummy as if it is she who got affected. But I don’t care.
Grandpa is immediately taken to the next room where we are denied entry. When my mother and Eva arrive, they are shocked to learn what has happened. Of course, they are mad but they don’t curse or point fingers at Sophia as they will normally do with Aria.
Aria has no idea how things escalated. She is just so mad at me for hurting one of her favourite persons. She thinks I am the one who made Sophia come to the hospital to visit me. Aria is unaware that the only person I want to see is her.
Please, Aria. At least give me a chance to clarify.
