Chapter 7
Chapter 7
She tilted her head slightly, leaned toward my ear, and whispered those words…
When I heard them, my pupils constricted, my face unable to hide my shock.
I frantically looked at Mom, trying to grasp her hand.
But Mom moved faster.
She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and smoothed the wrinkles in her clothes.
Then she gave me a radiant smile and rushed toward the window.
This was the thirtieth floor.
My heart shattered instantly as I screamed desperately.
“Mom, NO!!!”
But Mom didn’t listen, leaving me behind.
With surprising agility, she climbed through the window and jumped without hesitation.
She made the same choice as my little sister, Grandma, and Dad.
Unhesitatingly and resolutely ending her own life.
I rushed after her, briefly catching a piece of her clothing before it slipped through my fingers.
I watched helplessly as she fell, like a butterfly with broken wings.
I saw her figure growing smaller until it became a tiny black dot on the ground.
I wept hysterically, nearly fainting from grief.
From this moment on, I had no family left.
In this world, I was completely alone.
But beyond the grief, my mind was in turmoil.
I had assumed my little sister’s note contained words of hatred toward our family–though I never believed my family had wronged her in any way.
Yet, these words weren’t just different from what I had imagined–they were the complete opposite.
Still, this might explain why Grandma and Dad chose suicide after reading it.
Chapter 7
The reporters who witnessed Mom’s jump froze in shock for seconds,
Then rushed downstairs like sharks sensing blood, eager to capture photos and exclusive reports.
I wiped my tears and followed slowly behind the crowd.
My mind still trying to process what the truth might be.
But after taking just a few steps, someone slapped my shoulder hard.
Lost in thought, I was startled and jumped.
Turning around, I saw Detective Thompson standing behind me with a grim expression.
I nervously forced a smile and asked, “Detective, is something wrong?”
Thompson’s dark eyes stared at me as if seeing through all my thoughts.
After a few seconds of silence, he suddenly raised his voice.
“Emma Wilson, what game is your family playing?”
“Our investigation shows you never had a little sister!”
