After that day, I didn’t see Ethan for a long time. The apartment design was in its final stages.
Nathan had completely entrusted me with the details, saying he trusted me.
The next time I saw Ethan was when he scheduled our divorce proceedings. I packed my things, and Ethan said he’d pick me up.
“Amy, it won’t happen again,” he promised again, gradually putting me at ease.
But after a while, Ethan’s car made me dizzy. I clutched my palm tightly, feeling an uneasy premonition. And soon after, without warning, I passed out.
When I regained consciousness, I found myself locked in an abandoned warehouse. Ethan was obsessive and vicious.
“Amy, why won’t you take me back? Did Nathan say something to you?”
“Don’t believe him. He’s just lying to you. I’m the one who truly loves you. I’m the one who saved you.”
I carefully studied his face as fragmented memories gradually awakened.
That rainy night, a man’s silhouette had lingered before my eyes. The face I couldn’t clearly see before was becoming distinct.
“It was Nathan who saved me that night, not you. Right, Ethan? Why did you lie to me?”
Ethan’s face showed the humiliation and anger of being exposed. He gripped my jaw tightly.
“Because I wanted to take away everything he cared about. What right does he have to fight me?”
“Amy, I saved you too. Don’t you remember?”
His face was distorted, returning to the vicious personality I’d first known.
I had believed it was his second time saving me. The first was on that dark, rainy night when I was targeted because my academic performance threatened rich kids who resented me for stealing their glory.
Their revenge was straightforward–they either hired thugs or did the dirty work themselves.
I was cornered in an alley, my umbrella trampled beneath their feet. The punches landing on my body grew more numerous, but eventually, I was rescued.
In my hazy state, a man carried me in his arms.
“Don’t leave me,” I mumbled, gradually losing consciousness.
Until that night when I was rescued again, I privately assumed it had been Ethan both times.

Ethan was obsessive and ruthless. He kidnapped me, demanding an answer.
He said he couldn’t forget me, that he didn’t love Sophia,
But his manipulative tactics no longer worked on me. Ethan seemed enraged.
“Amy, we’re not divorced yet,” he reminded me.
He frantically bit me, his eyes blood–red.
“Amy, Nathan isn’t coming for you.”
I looked at him with teary eyes.
But he calmly brushed my face, whispering my name over and over.
He tried to force my tightly sealed lips open. My lips were turning bloody, and Ethan’s remaining patience vanished.
The man lowered his head and bit down viciously, his expression greedy and lustful.
Until a loud crash broke through the abandoned warehouse, then I saw Nathan.
I couldn’t make a sound, but my eyes looked hopefully toward the distance.
“Nathan, you’re ruining my plans again,” Ethan snarled.
“Ethan, you never knew how to cherish what you had,” Nathan replied.
Ethan went berserk, pulling out a small knife from somewhere, but before he could act, the police who had arrived with Nathan restrained him.
Like someone of Ethan’s status, it wouldn’t take long for the news to spread.
His obsession had driven him to madness. My divorce from Ethan went smoothly after that. He was arrested for attempted assault.
Once the dust settled on Ethan’s thing, Sophia came to see me.
I never expected her to be so eerily calm. “Amy, after all these years, Ethan still loses his composure at just one phone call from me. I thought he had feelings for me. But when you stopped messaging him, he became insecure. Ethan actually cares about you.”
She laughed self–deprecatingly.” What a shame–Ethan is so stubborn.”
I had completely severed ties with the Chen family. Nathan asked if I’d be willing to be the hostess of his new home.
I still had a thorn in my heart. The incident with Ethan made it difficult for me to fully accept.
“Amy, just be yourself,” he said, holding my hand, assuring me there was no pressure.
I no longer needed to put my life on hold because of Ethan. Instead, I returned to the design industry and even won

Nathan remained by my side throughout. I handed him the trophy, considering it his reward.
