Chapter 3
Chapter 3
Eric froze.
His brows pulled together.
And then he snapped at me.
“Emily, are you even a mother?
How could you curse your own daughters like that?
Sophia and Natalie were perfectly fine–just three days ago!”
I cut him off.
“Exactly.
Three days ago.
If you hadn’t left them on the side of the road, they’d still be alive!”
“You killed them, Eric.
You don’t deserve to be called their father.”
His whole face went blank.
Vanessa sauntered out from behind him, all smug and sugary.
“Come on, Emily.
You’re just putting on a show for Eric’s attention.”
“Eric is their real father.
If the girls were dead, don’t you think someone would’ve told him?”
“You probably grabbed two random urns just to fake this whole thing.”
“You might be able to fool Eric, but not me.”
Eric’s eyes darkened.
Now he was glaring at me like I was a psycho.
“You’re sick, Emily.
How dare you lie to me like this?”

Chapter 3
“I’m gonna smash these urns and see how you lie your way out of that.”
Vanessa marched toward the table.
1 slapped her across the face.
“Touch my daughters one more time and I will break your hand.”
“Emily! Are you insane?! You hit Vanessa!”
Eric rushed to shield her, like she was the one who needed protection.
That’s when I knew.
They weren’t worth my pain.
They were the reason my daughters were dead.
I’d wanted to hit them for so long.
