Chapter 12
I was about to go finish her myself.
But when I saw Eric completely lose it, I stopped.
In less than a minute, Vanessa’s head was bleeding.
And the blood just kept pouring out.
Eric didn’t stop.
He just kept screaming for her to pay for what she did.
A couple minutes later, I heard sirens outside.
By the time the cops rushed in, Vanessa had a hole in the back of her skull.
She was gone.
Totally, permanently gone.
Eric was arrested, but he’d already snapped.
He wasn’t the same anymore.
Two days later,
I quit my job.
That afternoon, I applied to be a guide at the amusement park.
I couldn’t shake the feeling-
My daughters weren’t really gone.
They were still hiding somewhere in that park,
waiting for me to find them.
And I’d stay there,
as long as it took.
Until they walked up to me and said,
“Mommy.”
