Chapter 95: Dangerous Confrontations
Chapter 95: Dangerous Confrontations
(Scarlett’s POV)
The air in the room felt thick. Roman’s presence always carried a weight, the kind that made everyone
instinctively want to submit.
His icy blue eyes were locked on Daniel, his gaze lethal, as though he were deciding whether or not to end him right there. And judging by the way Daniel’s face paled, he could feel that weight pressing down hard.
Daniel’s breaths came shallow, visible even in the dim light of my office. He staggered back slightly, but
Roman didn’t let up.
“Scarlett,” Roman began, his voice smooth but laced with steel. “This doesn’t look like a friendly visit. Did he
threaten you?”
I raised an eyebrow, crossing my arms. I wasn’t about to let Daniel play the victim or plead innocence. “No,” I
said plainly. “He didn’t threaten me. He was trying to make a point. I guess he didn’t appreciate that I made
mine first.”
Roman’s gaze flickered to mine as a smirk tugged at the corner of his lips. “You made your point by punching
him, I assume?”
I nodded, noting the way Daniel stiffened at Roman’s words. It was rare to see Daníel so completely unnerved. “I figured it’d save time,” I remarked casually, brushing imaginary dust off my sleeve.
Roman chuckled, the sound low and predatory. He reached out, his fingers gently brushing down my cheek
before his hand moved to stroke my hair. His touch didn’t feel overly possessive—at least not to me–but I
knew Roman well enough to recognize this display for what it was.
In his mind, Daniel needed reminding.
Daniel shifted uncomfortably, his gaze darting between Roman and me. His confidence wavered, unable to
reconcile the man beside me with the girl he thought he used to know.
“I assume you’re Daniel,” Roman said, his tone still casual, though it carried an undeniable menace beneath.
His hand never left me as he spoke. “So tell me, Daniel. What exactly did you come here to say to my
Scarlett?”
The emphasis wasn’t subtle.
Daniel’s throat bobbed as he swallowed, clearly struggling under the weight of Roman’s dominance. “She-”
His voice cracked but recovered quickly. “She’s my sister.”
Roman’s eyes darkened, his shoulders straightening slightly. “Do you really believe that?” he as
dripping in disdain. “You’ve lost your claim on her. She’s no longer your pack.”
his tone
I decided to intervene before Roman decided to escalate further. I stepped forward, brushing past Roman’s
protective stance. “Maybe he’s confused,” I said, my voice light and filled with mockery. “After all, it hasn’t been that long since we severed our bonds. Isn’t that right, Daniel?”
Daniel’s gaze snapped to mine, sharp and filled with anger. “We may not have an official bond anymore, but

as your biological brother, I still-”

“Stop right there,” I interrupted, raising a hand. “I didn’t come here to argue familial claims. You’re forgetting, Daniel, that I don’t owe this pack–or you–anything anymore. You made your choices. I’ve made mine. And now here you are, what? Trying to guilt–trip me into helping you?”
Roman stepped beside me, his hand resting lightly on my waist. His presence was grounding, though I refused to show any signs of needing it.
“Scarlett,” Daniel hissed, his voice low but filled with frustration. “You think cutting ties with us makes you stronger? You’ve turned your back on the only people who could truly protect you.”
It was fascinating, really, how quickly his fear turned to arrogance. His tone shifted, as though he still believed he held some authority over me.
I raised an eyebrow. “Protect me? That’s your final argument? You must not have been paying attention, Daniel. Take a good look. Do I look like someone scrambling for your kind of ‘protection‘?”
Roman’s laughter, though brief, filled the room. “You’re bolder than I expected,” he said to Daniel, his amusement fading into icy calmness. “But let me make one thing painfully clear. Scarlett doesn’t need your so–called ‘protection. Certainly not from someone like you. And definitely not from a pack that abandoned her the first chance they got.”
Daniel flinched, though his anger seemed to boil beneath the surface. He stepped back, retreating toward the doorway but not before glaring directly at me. “Severing yourself from the pack may seem like freedom now,” he said, his tone dark. “But someday, Scarlett, you’ll regret it. Without a pack, you are nothing.”
I didn’t flinch. Instead, I glanced at Roman, a slow smile spreading across my face. “Do I look like nothing, Daniel?” I asked, my voice sharp enough to draw blood.
Daniel’s lips thinned, his bravado faltering under Roman’s withering gaze. He spat a few unintelligible words under his breath before turning abruptly, storming out without so much as a backward glance.
As the door closed behind him, I exhaled, though my annoyance still lingered. Roman’s hand slid to the small of my back, his thumb brushing lightly in a way that always grounded me.
“Well,” I said, turning to face him. “That escalated quickly.”
Roman’s expression softened slightly as a smirk tugged at the corner of his lips again. “You handled it better than most would. But if Daniel or anyone else thinks they can step into your life like that again, they’ll have to
deal with me.”
I looked up at him, noting the possessiveness that still simmered faintly beneath his calm exterior. “I think I can handle my family drama just fine.” My voice was teasing, but I squeezed his hand lightly. “Though I’ll admit, it’s nice to have backup.”
Roman’s smirk widened as he leaned down, his lips grazing my ear. “You’ll always have backu

tle wolf.
I pushed through the glass doors of Scarlett’s healing center, the cool evening air hitting me like a slap. My heart raced, not just from the confrontation but from the oppressive weight of Roman’s presence.
(Daniel’s POV)
I knew who he was.

The dots clicked together in my mind with horrifying clarity. Roman was the Alpha who had broken Alexander’s arm. There was no mistaking that power–the suffocating dominance that left no room for challenge. And Scarlett was tied to him in ways I couldn’t fully comprehend.
“Damn it,” I muttered under my breath, fumbling for my car keys.

Before I could even reach my car, my phone buzzed. I snatched it from my pocket, grateful for the distraction
-until I saw her name on the screen.
Olivia.
I hesitated for a split second before answering. “What do you want?” I snapped, my frustration bleeding into
my tone.
“This isn’t something you can brush off, Daniel!” Her voice was sharp, brimming with anger. “You told me you were going to legitimize us–me, our son–before school started. You said it would happen! Were you lying?!”
I pinched the bridge of my nose, my patience wearing thin. “I’m not lying, Olivia. Things are complicated right
now.”
“Complicated?” she seethed. “You can’t keep stringing us along! Do you have any idea how hard it is to keep our son out of pack politics when he’s-”
“I’ll meet you,” I interrupted, my voice low. “We’ll talk. Just… not now.”
Before she could argue further, I hung up and shoved the phone back into my pocket. I didn’t have the energy for that conversation, not when I wasn’t sure if I even had the answers she wanted.
But my phone buzzed again.
This time, it was Sarah.
“Daniel,” her voice came through, trembling and edged with panic. “It’s Grace–her condition has taken a turn. The healers say it’s worse than what we’ve been told. The silver. It’s… it’s spreading faster. They say if Aiden and Hazel don’t intervene soon, she won’t last three months.”
Her words struck me like a physical blow.
“And if we can’t reach them?” I asked, already dreading the answer.
There was silence on her end before she finally whispered, “It’ll kill her.”
I leaned heavily against my car, the weight of everything pressing down on me. “Then we stick with treatment. The-”
“Daniel,” she interrupted, her voice breaking. “The silver also… It’s reached her organs. Without intervention, she’ll lose her wolf permanently. She won’t survive the transition.”
Her words trailed off into silent sobbing as the line went quiet.
I clenched my fists. The pieces were falling apart faster than I could hold them together, and there was nothing I could do to stop it.
Before I could dwell further, my phone buzzed for the third time.
“Marcus,” I muttered, answering without thinking.
“Get to the pack house,” his voice barked, fury and urgency lacing his tone. “Now.”

I didn’t bother questioning him. Whatever awaited me back home might not have answers, but it would at least distract from the turmoil threatening to drown me.
Slamming the car door shut, I drove off, leaving Scarlett, Roman, Olivia, and Grace behind for now, though their shadows loomed large in my mind.
