Chapter 7
She dropped to her knees with a thud, her eyes turning red, crying pitifully, “Why are you still trying to destroy me? I’ve stayed far away from you,” she said. Her voice trembled.
“When you first told me to stay away, I immediately paid the deposit to move. When you said you were jealous of David’s treatment of me, I immediately distanced myself from him and even generously let him go. Why are you still spreading rumors about me? Are you trying to drive me to death?” she continued.
Ashley’s outburst drew a crowd in the hallway.
Onlookers, confused by the situation, immediately began pointing and whispering.
“How pitiful. She’s kneeling to you. What more do you want?” one said.
“I recognize this. It looks like severe depression. She’s probably telling the truth,” another
commented.
“This woman is so cruel. No wonder she’s in the hospital. Even God can’t stand her,” a
third added.
Ashley lowered her head, a slight smirk at the corner of her mouth.
When she looked up again, she wore a pitiful, aggrieved expression.
I stood and walked to Ashley, suddenly slapping her hard enough to knock her to the ground.
“Isn’t it normal for a mistress to hide from the wife? What, do you think you can strut around in front of us?” I said.
Pausing, I looked at the gawking crowd and clapped my hands, “Everyone, come listen. Let me introduce her,” I announced.
“This is a mistress, female, named Ashley Anderson, twenty–seven years old, a serial home–wrecker,” I continued.

“Ashley went abroad eight years ago as a mistress, was warned by the wife, and came back in disgrace. After returning, she seduced a senior executive and got dumped. Now she’s latched onto my husband,” I declared.
“Don’t just watch. Take out your phones, take photos, and warn your family and friends to keep their husbands away from her,” I concluded.
The crowd quickly pulled out their phones to take pictures.
Ashley covered her face and slunk away.
I then had the hospital help me collect surveillance footage of Ashley’s hospital visit and
sent it to my lawyer.
“Will this work?” I asked.
The lawyer replied instantly, “Yes. Collect more evidence. When we go to court, we’ll have an advantage in proving she incited Ryan to harm you.”
“Understood,” I responded.
I had just put down my phone when two familiar figures appeared at the door.
My parents had seen my story online and flown overnight to be with me.
They looked heartbroken at my empty belly.
My mother’s eyes reddened. For the first time, she cried in front of me, “Those monsters! Hurting my daughter like this! Divorce. We must divorce! We must make them pay!” she
said.
My father’s face was also filled with rage, “No wonder his parents called us yesterday, apologizing and trying to arrange a meal. Forget it! We’ll never associate with that family again!” he said.
That night, my parents stayed at the hospital with me.
Two days later, I was finally discharged.

I didn’t expect to see David at the entrance of my own apartment complex.

He seemed to have been waiting for me. As soon as he saw me, he rushed forward, furiously shouting, “I warned you not to torment Ashley!” he said.
“How dare you spread rumors that made her slit her wrists and end up in the hospital! If I hadn’t discovered her in time, she might have died! You’re coming with me to apologize right now, or I’ll kill you!” he continued.
David’s face was full of anger, his fists clenched tightly.
He wanted to drag me to Ashley immediately.
In the past, I would have been heartbroken seeing him defend Ashley like this.
Now, I just found it amusing.
“I want to ask you something. How convenient that you always find her right when she’s
about to commit suicide?” I said.
David paused, frowning, “Don’t try to drive a wedge between us. She’s not like you, not so malicious. I always find her because she’s long been suicidal,” he said.
I laughed, “Would someone suicidal frequently maintain social media and post selfie
videos?” I asked.
