CHAPTER 75
ARIA’S POV
I pause for a moment, pondering why he wants to meet me in person instead of simply stating his intentions over the phone.
“I don’t think it’s a good idea, Adam.”
The mere idea of encountering Adam floods me with an overwhelming sense of dread and discomfort. The thought of facing him in person fills me with a profound reluctance, as if every fiber of my being recoils at the prospect.
It’s not just a matter of inconvenience; it’s an emotional aversion rooted deep within me. The thought of being in his presence stirs up a torrent of emotions–anger, resentment, and perhaps even a tinge of fear.
I find myself struggling with conflicting desires, torn between the instinct to avoid him at all costs and the nagging curiosity to confront whatever it is he wants to discuss.
“I want Eva and my mother to apologize to you face to face.
Do they ever bother to extend an apology? It feels as if Adam has completely lost his grasp on reality. The notion of them admitting fault or expressing remorse seems like a distant fantasy.
“I don’t have anything to do with you guys. Leave me alone!”
Just when I believe Adam might relent, he persists in his demands for me to meet his mother and sister.
My curiosity is piqued. I find myself intrigued by the prospect of seeing how they might apologize or what else they have left to say.
“I know it’s so stupid of them to dishonor you like this, but I want them to apologize to you.”
“Okay! Where should I come?”
Adam insists that I come to their house, and reluctantly, I agree. However, upon arriving, I immediately sense that the atmosphere is vastly different from what I had anticipated or what Adam has described it to be.
Once again, I have been duped by all of them.
The audacity of the mother and daughter knows no bounds, I tell you; it surpasses everything in this world.
First, Eva blames me for supposedly hiding the fact that my brother is a billionaire from her, insinuating that I sabotaged her chances of getting close to him or even marrying Neal. Is she out of her mind?
Elodie Joins Eva in the accusations, portraying herself as a helpless mother who has failed to find a suitable match for her daughter until now, insinuating that her entire life depends solely on me and Neal.
Next, Adam comes at me for concealing my relationship with Neal and my identity as a billionaire’s sibling.
“I didn’t hide anything.”
“Oh, but you’ve managed to even buy Grandpa’s antique piece!”
Ah, so this is the issue. They’ve orchestrated this meeting as a trap to retrieve the antique piece from me. The sight of Adam in collusion with his mother and sister ignites a fierce anger within me. How could he betray my trust like this?
“Grandpa doesn’t know about our divorce… You better give back the necklace.”

CHAPTER 75
Adam explains that, given Grandpa’s fragile health, he hasn’t divulged anything about our situation to him, fearing it might exacerbate his condition. Furthermore, if Grandpa were to discover the necklace missing, it could potentially worsen his health.
I find Adam’s attempt to guilt–trap me utterly disdainful, and I can’t help but scoff at the insincerity of his motives.
“Eva and Elodie should have thought about that before stealing his heirloom and bring to the auction.”
I maintain a composed demeanor, unruffled by the situation, while Eva and Elodie are left speechless, their attempts to manipulate me falling flat in the face of my stoic response.
I am not here to waste my time with them, so, I take out my phone and play the recording where Eva has confessed to spreading rumors about me.
“Do you think, my brother will be interested to be with someone as lowly as you, Eva?!”
I make it abundantly clear to her that her current behavior, mindset, and attitude are highly unlikely to attract the attention of a wealthy and respectable family for marriage. At this point, I couldn’t care less about what Adam, his mother, or anyone else thinks of me. The truth is the truth, and if they have a spoiled brat in their house, someone needs to tell them about it.
