When Liam came back, he had already taken a shower.
Seeing Jessie still asleep, he leaned down to kiss her.
But as soon as he got close, the strong scent of his cologne made her sneeze violently, followed by a series of sneezes.
Jessie covered her nose, gasping for air.
Liam frowned, quickly getting up to open the window.
“Sorry, I forgot you’re allergic. I’ll go take a shower.”
By the time he came out, Jessie had already gone to the living room.
Seeing the empty dining table, Liam was slightly surprised. “No breakfast today?”
Jessie lowered her eyes expressionlessly. “Didn’t you already eat?”
Liam stared at her, confused.
Jessie calmly explained, “You
posted on your Instagram, and also
changed your profile picture.”
Liam furrowed his brows and pulled out his phone.
The post had been sent by Briley using Liam’s phone.
She had also changed his profile picture to match hers, like a couple.
Liam’s face turned slightly awkward. He put the phone back in his pocket and explained, “My secretary, Emily, her son was at the office

yesterday, maybe he changed it for fun.”
Jessie’s heart sank, a chill spreading through her fingers. She stood. still, motionless.
This was the second time Liam had lied to her.
While Jessie was still in a daze, Liam came down carrying his suitcase.
“Babe, I have to go on a business trip to the branch office for a few days. Your birthday is coming, and I’ll give you a surprise when I get back!”
Jessie didn’t respond. She lowered her head, her gaze falling on the suitcase, filled with nothing but mockery.
Liam glanced at her, a strange tightness in his chest. Before he could say anything, his phone buzzed.
Seeing the name on the screen, his eyes flicked toward Jessie. Noticing that she wasn’t looking at him, he turned and walked back inside to take the call.
Jessie heard the door lock click shut. Slowly, she bent down and unzipped his suitcase.
In the hidden compartment, she found two unopened boxes of condoms.
Her fingers stiffened as she put the suitcase back in place, a bitter smile tugging at her lips
In her previous life, it was after that party that Liam had started traveling more for business.
Back then, she had worried he was overworking himself, constantly making nutritious meals for him. Looking back now, she realized how

ridiculously naive she had been.
After Liam left, Jessie headed out as well.
She needed to ship her studio supplies in advance before she left the country.
By the time she finished, night had fallen. Exhausted, she locked the door when her phone suddenly rang with a call from the police.
She rushed to the location only to find Liam mid–swing, his fist about to land on another man’s face.
A woman stood in front of him, makeup–smeared from tears, clinging tightly to him. “Liam, stop!”
His eyes were bloodshot, like an angry lion ready to tear the man apart.
“Well, no wonder you’ve grown some nerve. Turns out you’ve got yourself a sugar daddy now.” The man sneered but hid behind the police officers.
“Mr. Foley, this is getting out of hand,” one of the officers said.
But Liam refused to listen. He was determined to punch the man.
The scene made Jessie stand frozen.
She had seen this side of Liam before–wild, dangerous.
Back then, he had been working tirelessly to build his own company every day and night.
Jessie, worried for him, couldn’t bear to see him living on takeout and instant food for every meal. So she started cooking meals and bringing them to his office every day.
