Kayson just ignored Kendrick. He reached out and took the wine that Tyson handed over, pinching it between his fingers. and swirling it idly.
In the goblet, the dark red liquid glinted with an otherworldly sheen.
Kendrick thought of the purpose of his visit and said, “Kayson, regarding the project of the Glory Group…”
The Galaxy Group had recently put out a project for tender. The Glory Group was one of the bidding companies. Kendrick had promised to secure the project for Valerie.
However, when it came to the final signing, the process got stuck with Kayson.
The contract had been sent to the CEO Office Division for half a month, yet it was still under review. Otherwise, Kendrick wouldn’t have rushed over here in such a heavy rain.
Kayson lifted his eyelids and gave Kendrick a cold glance. “I don’t discuss business matters during nonworking time.”
Kendrick had been ready to say more, but Kayson’s words about “I don’t discuss business matters” made him swallow back what he was going to say.
But thinking of Valerie’s instructions, he had no choice but to speak up brazenly. “Kayson, it’s just a matter of signing. You…”

Kendrick’s words were cut short as Kayson set the goblet in his hand on the table.
Unexpectedly, the goblet shattered abruptly.
“Kendrick, didn’t you understand what I said?”
Kayson’s pupils were dark, and his gaze was piercing. Despite not speaking loudly, the room fell silent instantly.
Kendrick sensed an omen of bad things to come. He rarely interacted with Kayson, and they had no conflicts of interest on normal days. So, why did Kayson seem so furious with him. tonight?
“Kendrick, don’t forget that you work for the Galaxy Group. Did you review the qualifications of the Glory Group? How dare you bring something for me to sign?”
Kendrick retorted, “I did review it. There’s nothing wrong with the Glory Group.”
“Fine. Then tell me. Why choose the Glory Group when there are better alternatives?”
Kendrick was left speechless, unable to come up with a response.
“You can’t say it, can you? Then let me help you out. It’s because someone from the Glory Group asked you to. Do yo want me to announce publicly who that person is?”
Kendrick’s face turned sullen. All the people present tonight were wealthy heirs in the social circle. Many of them were acquainted with him and used to fawn over him.

It would make it extremely awkward for him to socialize with this group of people.
Tyson, standing by the side, seemed to have grasped the
situation.
As he drank, he said, “Kendrick, are you interceding with Kayson for your sweetheart? No wonder Talia wants to call off the engagement with you. You’re so blatant about having a mistress. Who would put up with that?”
Kendrick’s expression darkened at the mention of the phrase “call off the engagement“.
With a sullen face, he retorted, “Valerie isn’t a mistress.”
Kayson sneered, “If she’s not a mistress, then what is she?”
Kendrick was left speechless and couldn’t utter a word for a
moment.
It dawned on him later. Kayson was so irate tonight. Could it be that he had heard about what had happened at the Taylor family?
However, Kayson had never been one to meddle in such family matters. So, what was going on?
After some thought, Kendrick figured that it might be related to the dignity of the Deven family.
Talia’s public announcement of the engagement termination would surely damage the Deven family’s reputation. As the head of the Deven family, Kayson naturally had to be

Kendrick composed himself and realized that he wouldn’t benefit from clashing with Kayson.
“Talia only said she wanted to break off the engagement. tonight out of anger. She’ll reconcile with me in a few days.”
Kayson took out a cigarette from the cigarette pack, put it between his teeth, and squinted his eyes slightly. “Is that so?”
Kayson’s question carried a profound meaning..
Kendrick failed to grasp the underlying message and nodded. “It’s just a lovers‘ quarrel. It’s nothing serious. Kayson, you have so many things to attend to every day. Don’t bother with such a trivial matter. Once Talia apologizes to me, the Deven family’s honor will be restored.”
Upon hearing this, Kayson suddenly fell silent.
This statement reminded him.
Indeed, Talia had taken the initiative to ask Kendrick to end the engagement tonight.

Kendrick was taken aback, wondering why Kayson had suddenly requested to meet Valerie.
Worried that Kayson might cause her trouble, he quickly said, “This is an issue between Talia and me, and has nothing to do with Valerie.”
After Tyson finished his wine, he sharply remarked, “You’re protecting her so much, and yet you say it has nothing to do with her? You should do as you’re told. Don’t you know what will happen if you make Kayson angry?”
