Chapter 53
After returning home and having dinner, Kayson secretly led Talia to the balcony.
Their apartment was on the top floor, offering a vast view and a wonderful environment. The entire area was filled with flowers and plants, resembling an outdoor garden.
As soon as Talia stepped out, the next instant, fireworks burst overhead.
The sky was immediately as bright as day, and Talia instinctively looked up.
Fireworks blossomed before her eyes, and the fading light reflected in her eyes. It was extremely romantic.
Talia thought, “What a coincidence… Did he arrange this?”
The next second, Kayson suddenly wrapped his arm around Talia’s slender waist from behind.
She was really too thin; his hand could almost encircle her entirely.
He thought, “I wonder if she’ll get used to our close contact.”
Kayson’s warm breath reached her from behind. Talia was startled, and a tingling sensation instantly spread throughout her body. Her heart began to pound a bit faster.
His deep, husky voice echoed in her ears, mingling with his masculine scent and the faint fragrance of flowers on the

balcony.
Talia felt a bit light–headed, not sure if it was due to the half- glass of wine she’d had at dinner or the words Kayson uttered at this moment.
He said, “Talia, happy married life.”
Talia’s eyelashes fluttered and her cheeks grew hot. Somehow, the kiss from last night flashed through her mind.
At that moment, they had also been so close.
Her fingertips involuntarily curled. Talia licked her lips and murmured softly, “Mr. Deven, the same to you.”
Her heartbeats quickened, much like the fireworks overhead.
Kayson’s well–shaped fingers reached around from behind her and interlocked tightly with hers.
This embrace was incredibly romantic.
Talia could even distinctly feel the rise and fall of his chest against her back.
Kayson’s warm body heat enveloped her, and he seemed rather unhappy with her address. “Mr. Deven?”
Talia turned her head and met his gaze. “Then… Kayson.”
The corners of Kayson’s thin lips curved into a smile.
His Adam’s apple bobbed, and his large hand glided over her shoulder. He spun her around and pulled her snugly into his
arms.

Those words made her cheeks flush instantly. She bit her lip and lowered her head slightly.
Seeing her bashful expression, Kayson’s smile grew wider.
Talia exuded a faint scent of wine, which tantalized his sense of smell. He pinched the back of her neck with one hand, making her look up.
He began to lean in slowly towards Talia. However, right at that moment, Kayson’s phone rang, and it couldn’t have come at a more awkward time.
He answered the call with a frown.
For some reason, Talia felt a sense of relief. Kayson’s actions just now… She knew he was probably about to kiss her.
She shut her eyes tightly, her heart pounding wildly.
Kayson held his phone. Perhaps because it was something urgent, he turned around and went into the study.
Kayson still hadn’t emerged by the time Talia finished showering.
Lying in bed, she suddenly remembered the half–finished conversation with Jessica in the afternoon.
Talia took out her phone and called Jessica back.
But to her astonishment, a strange man answered the phone.
Talia was taken aback. “Who are you? Where’s Jessica?”

Talia had met Jessica’s husband and knew this wasn’t Tyson’s
voice.
The background was a bit noisy, with faint music playing.
She thought, “Is Jessica at a bar?”
What the other person said next confirmed her suspicion. The bartender spoke very politely, “Are you a friend of this lady? She drank too much here. Can you come and pick her up?”
Upon hearing this, Talia immediately got up, grabbed a piece of clothing, and put it on. “Please tell me the address.”
After hanging up the phone, Talia opened the door and walked to the entrance. Then, thinking Kayson was still in the study, she turned back.
Hearing the commotion, Kayson opened the study door. Seeing Talia fully dressed, he frowned and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Talia said, “My friend drank too much. I’m going to pick her up.”
Kayson stared intently at Talia for a couple of seconds, his dark eyes tinged with a hint of coolness. “A man?”
“No, it’s a woman!” Talia quickly clarified. “It’s Jessica.”
After saying that, she pursed her lips. Suddenly, she remembered they’d gotten married today, yet here she was, going out in the middle of the night…
Wasn’t this a bit inappropriate?
It felt like she was dodging their wedding night….

Talia lowered her head, hesitated for a moment, then clasped her fingers, as if summoning great courage. Her face flushed as she said, “Let’s postpone our wedding night until next time.”
As soon as she said that, she scurried away without looking back, too embarrassed to stay.
Talia had spoken her last words in a very low, almost suppressed voice, but Kayson still caught them.
His tall frame stood beneath the light, eyes fixed on her retreating figure. The corners of his lips curved into a faint smile.
He mused, “Wedding night?
“From what she said, it seems she’s rather anticipating it?”
Talia took a taxi to the bar and spotted Jessica at the counter.
This was a quiet bar, and the ambiance was quite nice. There were no throngs of people dancing wildly; instead, melodious music filled the air.
Jessica was in a semi–conscious state, her eyes still glazed over. She propped her chin up with both hands, her lovely eyes locked on Talia.
She said in a slurred tone, “Why are you here? Weren’t you supposed to get married today?”
“You’re more important than anyone,” Talia replied.
Talia had rushed in right after getting out of the taxi. She was

feeling a bit hot, so she took off her coat.
Underneath the coat was a red knitted suspender dress. Despite being thin, she had an appealing figure.
Talia’s shapely legs were tucked up on the high stool. Her skirt split halfway up, exposing her fair calves, while her short boots neatly concealed the scar on her ankle. She was truly striking.
Jessica looked at her with an innocent expression. “It’s all my fault. I’m such a sinner for ruining your special night with your husband.”
Talia ignored the teasing in Jessica’s words. She stared at Jessica’s red–rimmed eyes and asked, “Did you have another argument with Tyson?”
Jessica and Tyson had been tied to an arranged marriage for two years already.
However, in the first year of their marriage, Jessica had gotten injured while dancing and had to recover abroad.
In the second year, Tyson had gone abroad to study.
It was an astonishing coincidence. Whenever Jessica was overseas, Tyson was at home, and the moment Jessica returned, Tyson went overseas.
So, in the two years of their marriage, they had only spent a few days living together under the same roof in total.
Jessica shook her head slightly. “We haven’t seen each other for a whole year. How could we possibly have an argument?”
Talia was about to say something when a harsh voice

sounded from behind her.
“Talia?”
Talia turned around and found herself looking into Kendrick’s
eyes.
Kendrick held a goblet in his hand, tilted his chin up slightly, and exuded an air of arrogance. “Why did you come here after me? Do you regret it?”
“Unfortunately, it’s already too late.”
