CHAPTER 93

ARIA’S POV

Finally, I move back to the Millersresidence. I’m welcomed by all the maids who used to look down on me and treat me as if I were inferior. This time, they bow and don’t even dare to look me in the eyes

It’s strange how people can change when they know about your status or how the man of the house treats you. Their sudden shift in behavior is a big reminder of the fickle nature of respect and the impact of perceived power and status

As I step inside, memories of the past flood my mind; the illtreatment, the taunts, the pain, and the humiliation that have scarred me mentally and physically over the years Every corner of the house seems to echo with the ghosts of those bitter experiences, reminding me of the struggles I’ve endured

Welcome back, Aria.”

Adam’s husky voice pulls me back to the present. He looks much better now that he’s been discharged from the hospital. Seeing him like this brings a wave of relief, and the guilt that’s been weighing on my heart dissipates instantly

Thanks.”

I reply, but not enthusiastically. My feelings are genuine I’m not excited to be back. Despite my words, my heart isn’t in it. The memories of past pain and humiliation linger, dampening any sense of relief I might feel

I am guided to my previous room and am appalled to find that everything is exactly as I left it. The familiarity of the surroundings, unchanged and untouched, fills me with a mix of discomfort and nostalgia. It’s as if time has stood still, preserving all the memories I had hoped to leave behind

I can’t see Eva or Elodie around, and it’s a great relief. It seems that Adam has kept his promise and handled the matter effectively. Their absence reassures me that, for now at least, I won’t have to deal with their presence and the turmoil they bring.

Today, I didn’t have to carry my luggage up to my room myself; the butler did it for me. I made sure everything was placed in the corner of the room and informed him that I would take care of it later

Let’s go meet Grandpa.”

Adam has been standing by to ensure that no one misbehaved with me. He’s patiently waiting for me to settle in before asking me to meet Grandpa. It’s a relief to know that for now, only the three of us are living in this house

As I walk toward Grandpa’s bed, the glow of happiness is evident on his face. His eyes light up with joy, and the smile that spreads across his face fills me with warmth

Aria, my girl. Don’t work so hard. Look how slim you’ve become.”

Grandpa has always pointed out my slim figure, unaware of the toll it took on me. Back then, I would get only five hours of sleep after working at Adam’s firm and doing almost all the house chores

However, since moving out, I’ve started taking better care of myself and found a balance between work and personal life. Despite gaining some weight, I still look slim to Grandpa. Ha! Grandparents

I’ll take care, GrandpaThings haven’t been easy for me lately.”

cute

It is not a complain, but the plain truth and Grandpa asks me to be cautious. Then he asks something that baffles me completely

When are you both finally going to have a baby?”

I stare at Adam, whose face is entirely flushed. The sudden rush of color to his cheeks catches my attention, and 1 can’t help but wonder what might have caused such a reaction

Soon you’re having your grandchild, Grandpa.”

Now I regret my sarcastic remark, especially after confirming that Grandpa is soon to become a great- grandfather. The weight of my words hits me, and I can see the discomfort in Adam’s flushed face

Oh, Aria! You’ve given me such a great news. CongratulationsGod bless you both.”

No! Grandpa thinks that I am the one pregnant! I can’t believe I’ve put myself in such a big trouble. The realization dawns on me, and panic sets in as I contemplate the consequences of my ironic remark, hinting at Sophia, but Grandpa misunderstanding me completely

I want to clarify, but seeing Grandpa so gleeful, the words seem to get stuck in my throat. The sight of his happiness makes it difficult for me to bring myself to shatter his joy with the truth

When my gaze turns to Adam, he’s lost in deep thought, his brow furrowed with worry and anxiety
